It is my great pleasure to invite you to the SIDUO XXIII Congress to be held in Edinburgh from the12th till the16th September 2010. It is an honour for me and my colleagues in the Organising Committee to be given the task, by the SIDUO board and members, to facilitate this prestigious congress.
SIDUO is one of the oldest ultrasound societies. It is a truly international club of like minded colleagues and, above all, friends who developed the unique skill of ultrasound diagnosis. In the modern world of many new imaging techniques, ultrasound remarkably continues to keep its prominent place as a safe, cost effective and practical modality in our field of practice.
In this congress we were pleasantly inundated by a large number of excellent abstracts and the scientific programme will be full of enlightening oral and poster presentations. A series of “debates sessions” starring immanent speakers promise to deliver lively and stimulating discussion.
The busy social programme includes the opening reception, a whole day visit to the picturesque Loch Lomond and the renowned Burrell Collection. The gala dinner will be an all Scottish affair including mock battle, pipers and highland dancers in the medieval Stirling Castle; the coronation place of Mary Queen of Scots in 1543.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. It is one of the most beautiful and most visited cities. It is also the place of one of oldest surgical colleges in the world. We are proud to bring the SIDUO congress to Scotland for the first time and will do our utmost to make it a successful and productive meeting. We and Edinburgh welcome you with open arms and we look forward to seeing old and new friends and colleagues this September.
